I thoroughly enjoyed this module and felt that it served as a great introduction to 3D animation. I was able to work with different software to help develop out projects, such as Maya, blender substance painter and zbrush.
The four walk cycles was excellent at improving my skills in working in Maya, as well as my understanding of how to convey movement and personality in 3D. I felt that our animated short film was beneficial in making our group more focused and dedicated to our work, as we were all working from day one for several weeks. We were allowed to explore and allocated different tasks to each other, and play off each other’s strengths.
I was extremely happy with my outcomes in both assignments, I know I can make improvements to my work in future assignments, but I felt I did the best I could at the time. My most enjoyable part of the project was animating in both the animation studies assignment and animated short film. Exploring and experimenting with the 12 principles of animation really helped elevate my work, and I was able to push myself creatively. My main goal is to focus more on researching different animations and gather more primary research to better contextualise my work.
Overall, I feel that this module was a good start and has given me a much better grasp on animating modelling and creating animation using Maya and Zbrush.
