Modelling -Reflection

Updated: May 6, 2019

With the sword and shield completed, I felt that the assignment was extremely beneficial. Going out and researching to develop my ideas helped my creative process and taught me the value of first-hand research. Working in Maya proved to be challenging. However, I find that my skill with the software has vastly improved as a result of the class animation assignments as well as the independent learning I underwent as a result of the modelling assignment. Considering the complexity of both my sword and shield I feel I explored and utilized a variety if the tools Maya has to offer. I found that with the range of different materials and textures I used in both let me understand the interface much better and will greatly benefit me in future assignments. I will aim to improve my UV mapping, I felt that was the area I struggled with the most, I didn’t consider UV mapping when making my concept art and will plan ahead for future assignments. As my time on Maya grew longer, I realized some of my methods when modelling could’ve been swifter. Had I known more of the tools and their capabilities and will keep in mind my newfound understanding of the software moving.
