Week 2- Desolado

Updated: Dec 16, 2018

After presenting each of our concepts to each other we ultimately decided to go with the

the desert world concept paired with the steampunk aesthetic. We included various aspects

of each of our group ideas; the robotic lifeforms idea that Donal and I had, and the desert

planet from Aaron and the idea of a destroyed metropolis as the main setting form Matt.

Our World

The Final idea resulted in a dystopian desert planet were A.I are the dominant species.

Humanoid life-forms that have been enslaved break away from the A.I and form the basis for

an uprising against them. Organic life is sparse on the planet, instead, various 'rouge'

robotic, earth-like animals inhabit the earth, some friendly, some not. Within the vast deserts

old, decrepit city's can be found, suggesting the implication that life was once thriving on

this planet, posing the question- What could have happened to cause such a devastating

future?

Creature Combinations

What little organic life is present on the planet poses a threat, as we played around with the

concept of the A.I taking interest in the potential of organic life, thus they try to create life

themselves. This results in monstrous animal hybrids that are cast into the vast desert. For the mutated animals I looked at what creatures are typically found in a desert and chose ones with complimentary features with which to merge.

Final Thoughts

I found the final idea very intriguing and creative, and thoroughly enjoyed developing our ideas, however, I feel we worked too much in our own heads. That our communication could have been better between us to strengthen our final outcome. This is something I intend to work on and improve as I work with other teams in future groups
